Title: An Exploration of Post-Ethical Choices in Ted Chiang’s Novel Anxiety Is the Dizziness of Freedom

Abstract: Ted Chiang’s Anxiety Is the Dizziness of Freedom probes the ethical dilemmas of the technological age by deconstructing free will through prism technology, revealing the crisis and reconstruction of subjectivity in the post-ethical-choice era. This paper focuses on three manifestations of post-ethical choices, exploring the intricate interplay between technology and ethics through the lens of literary ethical criticism. The demise of the one-dimensional ethicist serves as a warning about how techno-capitalism consumes subjectivity; the morally resolute individual exemplifies the moral redemption of existential agency amid technological disenchantment; while the ethically awakened subject charts a core pathway for reconstructing subjectivity within the framework of scientific choice. When technology deconstructs traditional moral causality, humanity must forge nodes of benevolence guided by the values of truth-goodness, internalizing ethical awareness as the cornerstone of technological reflexivity, thereby preserving human morality within the web of possibilities across parallel worlds.
