Submission Guidelines

ICSLA follows a corresponding author system. If the manuscript contains multiple authors, the corresponding author is considered to be the research leader and contact person. Please confirm the author's name, author order (including corresponding author designation), author affiliation, author position/title, E-mail address, funding project(s), etc. before submitting the manuscript. 

It is recommended that no more than five authors be listed on a submission. The paper must include the title, author name(s), abstract, and keywords in both Chinese and English. References are sorted alphabetically by last name. All manuscripts must follow APA format. Articles (including references) should be between 5,000 and 16,000 words, with English manuscripts not exceeding 8,000 words and Chinese manuscripts not exceeding 16,000 words. Book reviews should be at least 3,000 words in either Chinese or English.

Scope and Topics 

ICSLA focuses on a wide range of topics related to international communication studies in literature and art, including: 

• • International Communication Studies in Literature;

• • International Communication Studies in Dance;

• • International Communication Studies in Drama;

• • International Communication Studies in Film and Television;

• • International Communication Studies in Sculpture;

• • International Communication Studies in Architecture;

• • International Communication Studies in Design;

• • International Communication Studies in Painting.

This journal encourages interdisciplinary research, particularly on emerging topics such as the integration of artificial intelligence in international communication studies in literature and art. In line with international standard, ICSLA does not have fixed  sections or columns, but accepts high-quality research within these areas of focus.

Originality and Copyright

Submissions to ICSLA must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted for consideration elsewhere. Authors are responsible for any potential copyright issues. By submitting a manuscript, authors retain copyright and grant the journal a publishing license. All published articles are made immediately available worldwide under the CC BY 4.0 license, which permits unrestricted sharing, adaptation and redistribution with appropriate attribution.

Peer Review Process

ICSLA employs a double-blind peer review system, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial review to assess their relevance and adherence to submission guidelines before being sent for external peer review. The typical review process takes 6–8 weeks.  

Authors may suggest potential reviewers or request the exclusion of specific individuals during submission, but the editorial team reserves the right to make the final decision.  

Manuscript Format Requirements

To ensure consistency and readability, please follow these formatting guidelines:  

• • Title Page: Include the title of the manuscript, an abstract (150–250 words), and 4–6 keywords. The corresponding author’s contact email should be provided on this page.  

• • Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman in Eenglish, 12-point font, and Line spacing: 1.2 times. 

• • Margins: Set margins to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

• Headings and Subheadings: Follow APA format for all headings and subheadings.  

• • Figures and Tables: Embed figures and tables in the manuscript text near their first citation. Each figure/table must have a descriptive title and caption. High-resolution images should also be submitted as separate files (JPEG or PNG).  

• • Appendices and Supplementary Materials: If applicable, include appendices at the end of the manuscript. Label them clearly (e.g., Appendix A, Appendix B). Supplementary materials can be submitted as separate files.  

• • Anonymity: To maintain a double-blind review, authors must remove all identifying information from the manuscript text and file properties. Ensure that the title page is submitted as a separate document to preserve anonymity.

Manuscripts can be submitted via E-mail to icsla2025@163.com. To facilitate the review process, please label your submission with the following format:  For identified submissions: “Name + Title”.  

Important Notes

The journal does not collaborate with third parties for manuscript solicitation.  All publications in ICSLA are free of charge.  All the electronic versions can be downloaded for free on the website.
