Editors-in-Chief Introduction


Professor Zhang Su

ZHANG Su is a Professor at Guangzhou University, where he serves as a Doctoral Supervisor and Postdoctoral Co-supervisor. He is also the Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of the Maritime Silk Road. He received his PhD in Philosophy from Peking University, specializing in Western Marxist Literary Theory, under the supervision of Huang Xiaohan, former Director of the Institute of Western Marxist Studies at Peking University.

 

His research focuses on literary and artistic communication, international communication, and comparative literature, with particular attention to the international dissemination of literature and art, modern Chinese civilization, and postmodern historiographic metafiction. He has served as Principal Investigator of several major research projects, including a Major Special Project of the National Social Science Fund of China, Research on XXXXXXX (23VHQ008), a ministry-level social science project recognized by the university, Research on the Construction of Modern Chinese Civilization and Strategies for the International Communication of Literature and Art(ZGWLBJKT202303), and a General Project of the National Social Science Fund of China, A Study of Euro-American Postmodern Historiographic Metafiction (20BWW006).

 

In recent years, he has published more than 20 academic papers in CSSCI and other core journals, including five articles in authoritative journals. His representative publications in high-level Chinese and international journals include “Slow Aesthetics: The Path and Pitfalls of Poetic Existence—A Discussion with Professor Yang Xiangrong” (Exploration and Free Views, CSSCI / Peking University Core, 2022), “Theme Dilution, Counterfactual Narration, and Multiple Temporal Configurations: A Literary Interpretation of Postmodern Historiographic Metafiction” (Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature, A&HCI, 2024), and “Ethics-Centered Transfiguration: A Critical Analysis of Hayden White’s Theory of Historical Tropology” (Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature, A&HCI, 2022).

 

He is actively involved in academic service and professional organizations. He serves as a Council Member of the China Association for Interface Studies, a Council Member of the Marine Security and Strategy Committee of the China Institute for Marine Development, and Vice President of the South China Urban Studies Association. He is also Director of the China Research Center for the International Communication of Literature and Art, co-established with the Research Department of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. In addition, he regularly serves as an anonymous reviewer for academic journals and as an expert reviewer for national- and ministerial-level research project evaluation and assessment.
